Matteo Darmian has confirmed that he has yet to hold talks with new boss Jose Mourinho, but he is hoping to stay at Manchester United.
The 21-year-old full-back only moved to United from Torino 12 months ago, but he has been linked with a summer departure having only started five of United’s final 21 games of last season.
Juventus and Barcelona have both been linked with a swoop for Darmian once his involvement with Italy at Euro 2016 comes to an end.
However with former boss Louis van Gaal being replaced by Mourinho at Old Trafford, it seems the player is now looking to remain with the Premier League outfit for the second year of his contract.
But his future remains uncertain given that he has still to speak with the Portuguese tactician about his role at United next term.
Darmian said: “Today I am a United player. I have a contract and I think I will continue next season. But I have not heard from Mourinho.”
