Sunderland have gone off a deal for Lorient’s Lamine Gassama but Nice defender Jeremy Pied and Lille’s Djibril Sidibe are options.
Boss Sam Allardyce is after a new full-back following on-loan DeAndre Yedlin’s exit and reports had claimed Sunderland had made a fresh attempt to sign Gassama, who was a previous target in January.
However, it’s thought Gassama is now not on ‘Big Sam’s’ radar but he is looking elsewhere in France with Nice’s Pied and Lille’s Sidibe being pursued.
Pied is out of contract and could therefore join on a free, while £10million-rated Sidibe is said to also be interesting West Ham, Monaco and PSG after he gave an interview last week saying he could leave Lille this summer to further his career.
Allardyce is actively looking for new recruits ahead of the new season and will hope to sign at least four players next month when the summer transfer window officially opens.
