Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is hoping to have defender DeAndre Yedlin fit for Wednesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Norwich.
The full-back damaged an ankle during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa but is expected to be available as the Canaries head for St James’ Park.
That will come as a boost to Benitez with Vurnon Anita, who has played much of the season at right-back, completing his three-match ban.
The Spaniard must otherwise decide whether or not to stick with keeper Matz Sels, who endured a tough afternoon at Villa Park, and which of his strikers get the nod with Dwight Gayle and Mohamed Diame having passed up a series of chances to kill off the game at the weekend.
Norwich welcome back midfielder Alex Tettey as they look to make it six successive wins in all competitions.
The Norway international has sat out the last three matches with a hip injury but has been back training with the squad this week.
Fellow midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, who was not involved against Burton at the weekend, is doubtful with a foot problem.
Nelson Oliveira, Alex Pritchard and Josh Murphy are pushing for starts while Steven Naismith will hoping for a return to the squad having missed out on the last four league encounters.
