Bournemouth piled more pressure on Newcastle manager Steve McClaren after the Cherries secured a 3-1 victory.
The visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Steven Taylor put into his own net as he tried to divert a Joshua King cross away.
That lead was doubled on 70 minutes when Matt Ritchie played into the feet of King and his turn and shot was too much for Rob Elliot.
There was a brief glimmer of hope for the home side when they halved the deficit with 10 minutes remaining, with Jonjo Shelvey playing in Ayoze Perez who kept his cool to slot home.
However, the game was done and dusted in injury time when Bournemouth scored their third through Charlie Daniels, who drove forward and made use of the space as Newcastle failed to close him down, firing into the far corner.
Both sides had opportunities throughout the game including Georgino Wijnaldum who could have made it 2-2 with two minutes left, but his effort was deflected wide.
