Roma are hoping to poach Georginio Wijnaldum following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship.
The north east club only bought the 25-year-old in July, when they paid PSV Eindhoven £14.5m to land the talented midfielder.
But, despite 11 goals from midfield in his first Premier League season, he was unable to prevent the Toon army from slipping out of the top flight.
A number of Newcastle’s key men are expected to leave the club this summer and now reports in Italy have suggested that Roma want to land Wijnaldum.
With Miralem Pjanic on the verge of completing a move to Juventus, Roma need to reinforce their midfield and it has been suggested that the Dutchman is top of their wish list.
