Chelsea and Arsenal face serious competition from Napoli in the race to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, reports have claimed.
Icardi could be on the move from the San Siro this summer as a host of top clubs queue up for the Argentina international’s signature, and reports in Italy claim Napoli are now hot favourites to do a deal.
Napoli have £75million burning a hole in their pocket after selling Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, and they look ready spend a large chunk of it on Icardi, who they feel is the ideal replacement.
The Italian press suggest Napoli will offer Inter £53.2million in the hope of securing Icardi, and that could be bad news for both Chelsea and Arsenal.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen on Icardi as his attempts to lure Romelu Lukaku away from Everton struggle to get anywhere, while Arsene Wenger is desperate for a new striker and Icardi is an option.
With Napoli poised to swoop, both clubs will have to move quickly to have any chance of securing a deal.
