Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis turned down club-record bid from Chelsea for defender Kalidou Koulibaly
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed Chelsea made a club-record bid of £51 million for defender Kalidou Koulibaly during the summer.
Blues boss Antonio Conte did not hide his interest in the Senegal international but failed to bring the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge despite constant speculation.
Koulibaly has been a mainstay in the Napoli side since arriving in the summer of 2014 with the Italian club desperate to keep hold of their prized asset.
De Laurentiis has a good relationship with Conte and revealed his persistent interest in landing the defender during the summer window.
“My friend Conte, he will always say ‘it’s not true’ but he offered to me €30million, €35, €40, €45 even €50million.”
