Southampton striker Shane Long has what it takes to play at the top-level, according to compatriot Daryl Murphy.
Murphy and Long are currently with the Republic of Ireland as they continue preparations ahead of Euro 2016 beginning with a friendly against the Netherlands on Friday.
Long is looking to extend his exploits for Southampton into the showpiece event in France this summer, having netted 10 goals in 23 Premier League starts.
The 29-year-olds stock has been rising for his national side since netting the only goal in a 1-0 win over Germany last October and Murphy believes he can play at the very highest level.
Murphy said: “I think Shane has always improved any time Ive seen him to be honest with you.
“Hes got everything you need to play at the top level and he does it week in, week out.
“He scores goals, he causes teams all sorts of problems, so I think its great for us to have a player like that with his pace and goal-scoring record in our squad.”
