Sunderland are closing in on a deal for Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra and may also snap up Spurs’ Ryan Mason before the transfer deadline.
The Black Cats are understood to have agreed a £7.7million deal with Sevilla for Iborra, who is keen to test himself in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder had been a target for Valencia but Los Che’s interest has cooled, leaving Sunderland as the leading contenders to snare Iborra this summer.
Mason, 25, is set to exit current club Tottenham before the transfer window slams shut and had been expected to join Hull.
The Tigers have seen an offer of £8million accepted but Sunderland are planning a late move and could hijack Hull’s bid for the one-cap England international, as boss David Moyes strengthens his midfield.
