Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists his team are still adjusting to his style following the departure of Louis Van Gaal.
The Dutchman was sacked at the end of last season after another disappointing campaign saw them miss out on the UEFA Champions League.
Van Gaal’s style was heavily criticised, with the former Bayern Munich coach trying to play risk-free football.
Mourinho made a positive impact at first at Old Trafford earlier this season but after three defeats he was then put under the spotlight.
The Red Devils responded on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Leicester City and the former Porto manager admits his players are still adapting to his way of thinking.
He told reporters: “Myself and Mr Van Gaal think about football in a different way so it is normal that in their football brains there is still moments of contradiction about what they used to do and what I want them to do.
“In the recent past the players were not successful and they know the responsibility to play for this club and they know the expectations when not going well and you have one bad result or in this case three and knowing the profile of the media in this country that is what they feel.”
