Stoke’s pursuit of Montpellier midfielder Bryan Dabo looks set to end in failure after St Etienne won the race for his signature.
The Potters were thought to be among a host of Premier League clubs keen on Dabo with Swansea, Sunderland and Everton having also reportedly expressed an interest in his signature.
French duo Nice and Marseille were also thought to be chasing the 24-year-old but reports in France claim it is St Etienne who are set to land him after agreeing a deal in the region of £1.5million for the former France Under-21 international.
Stoke appear keen on raiding the best Ligue 1 has to offer this summer having previously been linked with Lille midfielder Sofiane Boufal, Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi and Monaco forward Allan Saint-Maimin in the French newspapers.
