Southampton and Sunderland are resigned to losing out to Monaco in the race to land Djibril Sidibe.
The Ligue 1 club have reportedly agreed personal terms with the Lille defender and are close to sealing an £11million switch for the 23-year-old.
According to L’Equipe, Monaco have also agreed allow Rony Lopes to go the other way on loan and expect a deal to be announced by the end of the week.
Sunderland and Southampton could still hijack any deal by slapping down a higher offer.
But it is understood that both clubs have given up on their respective pursuits.
