Jeremain Lens is heading for Fenerbahce, according to reports in Turkey, and Sunderland have missed out on Asamoah Gyan.
Lens was signed by former Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat last summer but has struggled to really make a mark at the Stadium of Light.
The Dutch winger is now seemingly set to be reunited with Advocaat for a fourth time, having previously worked with the current Fener coach at AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven.
Reports in Turkey say Lens will travel to Istanbul on Monday ahead of a medical, before completing a season-long loan switch to Fenerbahce with the option of a permanent deal.
Meanwhile, the Black Cats had been linked with former striker Gyan and the Ghanaian had suggested he would be open to a return to Wearside.
It remains to be seen if Sunderland did make a concrete offer to the 30-year-old and Championship club Reading have now confirmed he is due in Berkshire for a medical ahead of a loan switch from China’s Shanghai SIPG.
