Remi Garde says he still believes his Aston Villa side can pull off a miracle escape from relegation this season.
Villa sit bottom of the Premier League table, nine points adrift of safety, having lost their last five fixtures following Sunday’s 2-0 home reverse against title contenders Spurs.
However, Garde is still trying to paint a positive picture and has faith that his players can turn things around in the eight games that remain.
Garde is clinging to the fact Villa take on sides over the coming weeks who are not battling for the title or in a relegation fight themselves, and he hopes it will give the Midlanders a chance to pick up some wins.
He said: “It’s not a nightmare – we are still alive and can still believe we will win enough games to be safe.
“I knew that playing Everton, Manchester City and Tottenham would be a very difficult spell against very good sides.
“I’m not saying now we have easy games, I don’t want to disrespect anyone – I canÂ’t anyway because they’re all in front of us.
“But then, I’m saying the games we are playing will be against teams who are not fighting for the title.”
