Palermo are waiting for AC Milan to move for reported West Brom target Franco Vazquez after English interest in the player cooled.
Albion were credited with an interest in the 27-year-old Italy international earlier this month, alongside Watford, but reports in Sicily suggest it has all gone quiet on that front and that a move to Milan is now more likely.
Giornale di Sicilia claim Palermo have 48 hours in which to sell their star player in order to balance the books for last season and a failure to do so would decrease their budget for next term.
Milan are thought to be closest to making an acceptable bid but are in the throes of a takeover by a Chinese consortium which is hindering their recruitment process.
The report also states that West Brom are unlikely to make a move for Vazquez until they can secure the sale of Saido Berahino for a similar fee to the one Palermo want for their star player.
