John Obi Mikel has dismissed talk of a move away from Chelsea and says he wants to earn a new deal with the club.
The Nigerian was rumoured to be heading for the exit door following reports a number of Chinese clubs were in the hunt to sign him, while Turkish side Besiktas have also been mentioned.
It remains to be seem how much of a part Mikel will play under the leadership of Blues boss Antonio Conte this season, but Mikel is determined to win a new deal.
Mikel has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, but wants to earn an extended stay.
“For 10 years I have been going to the same training ground, the same locker room,” he said. It is an amazing club, with an amazing owner. They are like a family to me. It is a place that has become a part of me.
“I have a year left and then we will see what happens. If I play well this season, it will help me earn a new contract,” he said. “I will give 120 per cent every time I’m on the pitch or come off the bench. I will always give my best.”
