Swansea are planning to offer star midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson a new deal in an attempt to fight of rival interest in him.
The 26-year-old had yet another impressive season in the Premier League when firing home 11 goals and providing three assists as the Swans pulled away from relegation in the second half of the campaign.
Swansea fear one or two offers could come in for the Icelandic international in the summer, with Premier League champions Leicester City thought be considering a £15million bid.
The Swans are under no pressure to cash in on their star man but are keen to put an end to all the rumours by getting him tied down to a bumper new deal at the Liberty Stadium.
“Over the next few weeks we will be having dicussions with Gylfi’s agent,” Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said. “We will talk about the player’s thoughts and we will discuss his future with us.”
Sigurdsson still has two years remaining on his current deal, but Swansea want him secured to fresh terms as soon as possible.
