Southampton have confirmed the signing of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich on a five-year contract.
The south coast club have been in pursuit of the midfielder for most of the summer and finally got the deal over the line late on Monday.
Hojbjerg arrives at St Mary’s for an undisclosed fee, having been scouted by Saints for the last few years.
The midfielder made his Bayern debut in 2013 at the age of 17 and has already earned 17 caps for Denmark.
Executive Director of Football Les Reed told the Saints website: “Pierre is an exciting young talent, who we are delighted to welcome to Southampton Football Club.
“At the age of just 20, he is already an established international player with Denmark and has gained significant and valuable experience while at Bayern Munich and in the Bundesliga.
“Pierre boasts an impressive pedigree, as well as a great deal of potential, and it is testament to our reputation that he has chosen Southampton ahead of other suitors as the next step in his career.
“We believe the club will be an ideal place for Pierre to continue his progression and that he will be an excellent addition to our squad.
Hojbjerg is the second summer signing for the Premier League outfit with winger Nathan Redmond also arriving following a switch from Norwich.
