Chelsea should know in the next few days whether they are in with a chance of signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is thought to be in the hunt for the Armenia international, and BVB officials say a decision on the midfielder’s future will be made this week.
Mkhitaryan scored 20 goals and provided 18 assists as Thomas Tuchel’s men finished second in the table behind Bayern Munich.
Mkhitaryan’s performances have also sparked interest from Liverpool and Manchester United and with just one year remaining on his contract, the Dortmund board could consider selling him.
The 27-year-old almost joined Liverpool in the summer of 2013 but instead opted for the Bundesliga following an impressive spell playing at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Sporting director Michael Zorc has been quoted as saying a decision will be made this week, after his agent Mino Raiola hinted he is unlikely to sign a new deal.
It is believed a fee of around £23.5m would be enough to persuade them to sell.
