Sunderland midfielder Jan Kirchhoff has handed the club a boost by declaring he would like to extend his present deal.
The German singed an 18-month contract back in January when former boss Sam Allardyce brought him to the Stadium of Light from Bayern Munich for a bargain £750,000.
Following a successful five months, where he helped the club fight off the threat of relegation, he now wants to extend his stay beyond it’s current length.
Kirchhoff told the Sunderland Echo: “I can imagine staying here at Sunderland, I feel good here and I would like to stay.
“There are always two sides – the club would like me to stay and I feel good here. It’s a good situation for both of us, and I am sure we will find a solution.”
