Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is a doubt for the visit of champions Leicester City on Saturday after he missed training on Tuesday.
The midfielder picked up an ankle injury during the clash with Burton Albion in the League Cup and missed the Premier League match with Tottenham as a result.
There had been hopes that he would be back for the first game of the season at Anfield against the Foxes after pulling out of Germany’s squad but that now looks unlikely.
On the plus side, Sadio Mane appears to be fully fit after suffering his own injury worry whilst on international duty for Senegal.
Mane said: “I’m fit. It’s true I got a little kick in the back of the knee, but it was nothing special – it happened in the first half and I played for the rest of the game,” the winger said to Liverpool official website.
“I’d spoke with the coach and because we have new players, he wanted to try [them] and change me, so the substitution was not due to injury.”
