Striker Cristhian Stuani could be included in leaders Middlesbrough’s squad after returning from suspension.

Left-back George Friend (hamstring) is doubtful, with loan signing Ritchie de Laet in line to deputise.

Ipswich will again be without strikers Daryl Murphy (calf) and Luke Varney (hamstring).

On-loan Fulham midfielder Ben Pringle is available again but forward Larsen Toure will not travel because of a groin injury.

  • Middlesbrough have won their past three home games against the Tractor Boys, scoring eight goals and conceding one
  • Ipswich, who lost 2-0 to Boro this season, have not lost twice to the Teesiders in a season since 1975-76
  • Since conceding three goals to Sheffield Wednesday at the Riverside in August 2014, Middlesbrough have shipped only 16 goals in 42 home league matches – and never more than one in a game
  • The Tractor Boys have won only one of their past nine away games (D4 L4)
  • Jordan Rhodes has scored four goals in his past five league games for Middlesbrough, after netting just one in his first 10
