Schalke general manager Christian Heidel insists Max Meyer will not be leaving for Liverpool this summer.
Recent reports had suggested Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was weighing up a move and an offer around the £15million mark was set to be offered for the Germany international’s services.
The attacking midfielder was a regular fixture in the first team last season, making 32 Bundesliga appearances, and his impressive displays caught the eye of several top European outfits.
Rumours of a switch to Anfield did surface over recent days but Heidel has poured cold water over these after insisting the club don’t want to sell Meyer.
“Max is a great player, but a move to Liverpool is nonsense,” he told Sky Sport. “I know Klopp a bit and I briefly spoke with him the other day. He would definitely have mentioned Meyer had Liverpool been interested in signing him.
“Plus we have no intention of selling Max.”
