Stoke City have signed Bruno Martins Indi on a season-long loan from Porto, with an option to make the deal permanent.
Stoke had been looking for defensive recruits over the past few days and they have now managed to snap up Martins Indi, who becomes the sixth summer arrival at the Britannia Stadium.
The Holland international brings good experience to the squad, having amassed 47 league appearances for Porto whilst becoming a regular fixture on the international stage.
Manager Mark Hughes is delighted to have got the deal finally sorted and is looking forward to seeing the centre-back in action for the rest of the Premier League campaign.
“We have been aware of Bruno for quite some time now, as many other clubs around Europe have been,” he said. “He is a very accomplished defender who has a lot of experience at a very high level, including playing for Holland during their good run at the 2014 World Cup.
“He is a guy that we feel can come in and make an immediate impression, because he boasts all the attributes needed to perform at the top level of the Premier League.”
Martins Indi’s arrival has also forced through an exit from the club, with Philipp Wollscheid signing for Wolfsburg on a season-long loan deal.
