Everton boss Roberto Martinez says he is close to turning the club’s form around despite their current woes in the Premier League.
Martinez is under massive pressure at the Everton helm after a desperately disappointing season culminated in a last-minute defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final last Saturday.
As he fights to keep his post amid rumours of the imminent axe the tactician claims that, despite their current campaign, he is nearer to finding an answer than he ever has been.
He said: “I am more capable now to find those final adjustments to make us better, to make us a team that can compete as well at home as we have away.
“The defeats we have had at home – eight defeats at home with 39 goals conceded is not good enough – nowhere near the levels that you expect to be a successful team – and thatÂ’s what we have to change.
“But we have to do it in a typical Everton way and in a typical Everton fashion which is facing adversity with integrity and with an incredible desire to perform well in the next four games.”
