Everton boss Roberto Martinez says Bryan Oviedo will continue to improve and he is looking forward to watching it.
The defender signed a new deal with the club earlier this month and Martinez believes he has earned the new contract with the way he has fought back from a succession of injury problems.
The Costa Rican international has played the last five matches and continues to improve in the side and Martinez says that is a trend that will continue.
“Bryan is developing all the time,” the Toffees boss told the club’s website, “He has improved immensely in the last 12 months and he is a player who can adapt to anything that the team needs.
“We have seen it now. Bryan was 26 recently and he has received a new, well-deserved contract, because he is bringing a really good level to the team.
“There is nothing stronger in a team or a squad than having competition for places, and I think Bryan mentioned recently that to have Leighton Baines and Brendan Galloway also vying for that left-back spot means we are very strong in that specialised position.
“Overall, I think it typifies what a team player Bryan really is and I expect that his best years are ahead of him. Thankfully, they are going to be with us.”
