Marko Grujic happy to bide time at Liverpool as midfielder targets 2017/18 breakthrough

Marko Grujic has told Liverpool fans they will see the best of him next season.

The 20-year-old joined the Reds in January from Red Star Belgrade for around £5.1m, snubbing interest from the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan.

The midfielder was loaned back to his old club for the second half of last season and, since heading to Merseyside in the summer, has made just one appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But Grujic is happy to bide his time at Anfield and believes he will make a big impact in the 2017/18 campaign.

“Red Star is a very, very big club, like Liverpool…but both clubs are like family, and that’s why I chose to join Liverpool,” Grujic told Liverpool FC Magazine.

“I think there is the same harmony between club and fans and already everywhere that I’ve been around the city I just feel how Liverpool is such a big club.

“For the first season I just want to learn from these guys. I have the big pleasure of playing with some of the best footballers in the world.

“I want to get some minutes and games to try and improve myself for the future. I think next season will be the one where I show what I can do.”
