Mark Noble: This is who to blame for West Ham’s poor start

Bilic, who led the Hammers to eighth last season, reckons he should take the flak.

But Noble said: “I don’t know how that it is. He sets up his team. He tells us what to do and if we go out there and lose, the manager always take it, but it’s down to us to go out there and put a performance in.

“You can only say a certain amount of times that we are waiting for a break or we are waiting for this or that, sometimes you make your own luck.

“We just aren’t playing well at the minute and we need to liven ourselves up. Of course confidence is low – it is with everyone.”

West Ham’s awful start to the season has coincided with them moving away from their intimidating home at Upton Park to the former Olympic Stadium, which was built as an athletics arena and lacks the atmosphere and intensity of the Boleyn Ground.

The Hammers’ new home had practically emptied by the final whistle of their latest setback, a 3-0 humiliation by Southampton on Sunday.
