Mark Lawrenson: This manager can outshine Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho

“I hate to use the comparison but he’s got a bit of Bill Shankly in him in his relationship with the fans. They love him. He’s got everyone behind him”

Mark Lawrenson on Jurgen Klopp

During his time with Porto he won two league titles, one Portuguese cup, one Champions League and a UEFA Cup, while at Chelsea he claimed three Premier League titles, plus the FA Cup and three League Cups.

He followed that up with two Serie A titles, one Italian cup and one Champions League crown at Inter Milan before winning the league and the cup with Real Madrid.

City chief Guardiola runs Mourinho a close second with 12 honours, picking up three league titles, two cups and two Champions League trophies at Barcelona and three titles and two cups with German giants Bayern Munich.

That leaves “lightweight” Klopp very much on the undercard as he begins his first full season at Liverpool on the back of winning two Bundesliga titles and one German cup with Borussia Dortmund.
