Southampton will reportedly step up their bid to sign winger Solly March after the player snubbed a new deal offer from Brighton.
The highly-rated 21-year-old missed the second half of last season because of a knee injury as the Seagulls finished third in the Championship before losing out to Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-finals in May.
However, March is clearly a big part of boss Chris Hughton’s plans and the club have moved to try and tie him down to a longer deal at the Amex Stadium beyond summer 2018.
But it’s being suggested that March is desperate to play in the Premier League and has rebuffed the offer from Brighton as he looks to get a move this summer.
The Saints have already drafted in Nathan Redmond from Norwich but it’s believed new boss Claude Puel is looking for further reinforcements following Sadio Mane’s exit to Liverpool.
A move to the Saints would no doubt appeal to March given that they also have Europa League football on offer, while he would only have to move a relatively short distance of 70 miles along the south coast to St Mary’s.
