Manuel Pellegrini angry with fixture schedule ahead of Champions League semi-final

City must travel to Madrid for Wednesday’s second leg semi-final clash without injured forward David Silva who has been ruled out for up to three weeks with a thigh strain.

And to compound City’s unhappiness, the Premier League has refused to change the 4.30pm kick-off time for their televised visit to Southampton on Sunday, with Pellegrini arguing that his side could have had an additional 24 hours recovery time if the game had been brought forward to a Saturday slot.

“I don’t understand why, having so many games and all the games have the same interest, we can’t play one game before and have 24 hours more,” said Pellegrini.
