Daniel Sturridge and James Milner are set to return to the Liverpool squad for Saturday’s trip to Burnley but Sadio Mane is doubtful.
Striker Sturridge and midfielder Milner are in contention for the clash at Turf Moor after returning to training this week. The pair missed last week’s win at Arsenal with hip and ankle problems respectively but have now recovered.
The best Sturridge can hope for, though, seems a place on the bench with boss Jurgen Klopp keen to keep a close eye on his fitness, while Milner may replace the much-criticised Alberto Moreno in an unfamiliar left-back role.
Summer signing Mane is a doubt after sustaining a shoulder injury in training, although Klopp said in his press conference on Thursday the injury wasn’t serious. If he is ruled out, Divock Origi is set to replace Mane in the starting line-up as the boss is expected to keep a mainly settled side.
Lucas Leiva is training again after recovering from a hamstring strain, while fellow midfielder Emre Can is pushing for a start after a substitute appearance at the Emirates.
Provisional squad: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge, Manninger, Alex-Arnold, Randall, Matip, Can, Grujic, Stewart, Origi, Ings.
