Louis van Gaal overcame two potential banana skins this week as Manchester United claimed victories over Shrewsbury and FC Midtjylland.
However, next up for the under-fire Red Devils manager is the task of overcoming Arsenal at Old Trafford, and do so with the most injury-ridden squad in the Premier League.
Despite the return of Marcos Rojo on Thursday night, United’s injury troubles worsened as first Chris Smalling and then, ten minutes prior to kick off, Anthony Martial were ruled out.
That brings United’s injury toll up to 14, meaning the likes of Joe Riley and Marcus Rashford, who both played brilliantly in the Europa League, are needing to fill the gaps in the first team.
United’s injury list is scheduled to be clear in the next two months with many predicted to be back in contention by the end of March.
