Bastian Schweinsteiger has returned to the recovery room.
Reports have claimed the Germany international has suffered a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee while on duty for his country.
The midfielder had only just recovered from a knee injury having been out of action since mid-January before returning in the 2-0 Europa League defeat to Liverpool on 10 March.
With the Red Devils closing in on the top four, the loss of Schweinsteiger will be a major blow to Louis van Gaal.
