Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar saves penalty on return to football

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar saved a penalty on his return to football with Dutch amateur side VV Noordwijk.

The 45-year-old agreed to come out of retirement and play for his former team after they suffered an injury crisis.

Former Fulham, Juventus and Ajax man Van der Sar managed to pull off a save from a spot-kick but couldn’t keep opponents Jodan Boys at bay all game as Mo Bellachen put the ball past him.

VV Noordwijk weren’t to be denied though and managed to nab an equaliser in injury time to make the score 1-1 in the Dutchman’s one-off appearance.
