Manchester United got a glimpse of how their side will look without Wayne Rooney when the Red Devils took on Leicester City on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s men won the game 4-1, turning on the style against the Premier League champions, with Rooney resigned to a substitutes role which saw him only make it onto the field of play in the final 10 minutes.
Many believed Mourinho dropping Rooney in the league would spell the end of his spell as a key United star, with the 30-year-old likely to only be used in Europe and the domestic cups as a rotation option to keep the first-team players fresh.
But now, this does not seem to be the case…
With Rooney expected to start against Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Saturday, it came as a surprise when he was again named on the bench.
A lot of people see this as proof the skipper will be recalled to the Premier League starting XI this weekend, when United take on Stoke – proving Rooney will be selected regardless of his form!
It is clear the Red Devils support are unhappy with Rooney not starting tonight…
