Jose Mourinho once vowed to ‘break Arsene Wenger’s face’, such is the extent of the bad blood between the two Premier League managers.
The revelation comes from the book Jose Mourinho: Up Close and Personal, which is being serialised in the Daily Mail.
The book, written by football writer Rob Beasley, who was close to the Portuguese during his spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, include details of private conversations between the two.
Mourinho and Wenger have exchanged a number of high-profile barbs during their time in England, with Mourinho famous describing the Frenchman as a ‘voyeur’ and a ‘specialist in failure’.
And following an exchange with Wenger over the transfer of Juan Mata to Manchester United, Mourinho told Beasley: “I will find him one day outside a football pitch and I will break his face.”
Beasley also reveals an Arsenal player text him the day after Arsenal beat Manchester City in 2015 to say Wenger had nothing to do the result.
