Manchester City has today announced the signing of 18-year-old eSports professional, Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown.
‘Kaz’ is best known for playing EA Sports FIFA series and will represent the sky blues at eSports tournaments and fan events for the upcoming FIFA 17 season.
The move represents City’s first signing of an official eSports player in the Club’s history, and the latest recruit in the long line of several recent eSports signings for fellow Clubs such as West Ham, Wolfsburg, FC Schalke and Santos.
City rivals Manchester United are also expected to enter the eSports arean, but rumours suggest they will instead focus their attention on first-person shooter Overwatch.
Commenting on the announcement, ‘Kez’ admitted he can’t wait to get started, telling Manchester City’s website: “It’s exciting; it’s something new for the Club and it’s something new for me.”
“I’m going to livestream on twitch, I’m going to be making videos for Manchester City’s YouTube channel and I’m going to be playing some City fans and representing City in future tournaments, which I’m looking forward to.
“This is an opportunity which not many people get the chance to do and I couldn’t turn it down.”
