Schalke have denied reports claiming they have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sell Leroy Sane.
It had been suggested on Monday that Schalke have accepted £40m bid for the Germany international after he impressed incoming City boss Pep Guardiola during the Spaniard’s three years in charge of Bayern Munich.
Sane made his breakthrough to the Schalke first team from the under-19s at the start of last season and scored nine goals in his debut campaign.
His performances immediately caught the attention of scouts from City and Barcelona and both clubs are keen on getting a deal done this summer.
City still remain favourites to capture the 20-year-old, but Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel dismissed claims they have agreed to let Sane leave.
“The story is incorrect, nothing has changed with Leroy Sane,” he told Bild.
