Manchester City news: On-loan defender Jason Denayer set for first-team role under Pep Guardiola next season

6 May

New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will reintegrate defender Jason Denayer into the first team when he takes over this summer.

Denayer, who is yet to make an appearance for City, has spent the last two seasons on loan, having failed to impress Manuel Pellegrini enough to make the step up to the senior squad.

The centre-back is coming to the end of a loan stint with Galatasaray, where he has made 21 appearances and gained valuable Champions League experience.

And, according to Turkish outlet Aktif Medya, Galatasaray have been told they will not be able to extend Denayer’s stay in Istanbul because Guardiola wants him back at the Etihad.

Denayer joined City’s academy in 2013 having spent five years at the JMG Academy in Belgium and now Guardiola is prepared to chance his arm with the 20-year-old.
