Manchester City FC news: Claudio Bravo insists the ‘finished article will come later’

Claudio Bravo has promised Manchester City fans the ‘finished article will come later’ after a few stuttering weeks under head coach Pep Guardiola.

Having won their opening 10 games of the Catalan’s reign at the Etihad, expectations were high for a season of sublime football and unprecedented success.

However, their progress has been checked in recent weeks, having failed to pick up a win in their last three matches.

A battling 3-3 draw with Celtic in the Champions League was the first sign the Citizens had chinks in their armour, before they were downed 2-0 by Spurs in the Premier League prior to the international break.

They returned to league action on Saturday, and were held at home by Everton, Nolito cancelling out Romelu Lukaku’s opener – with City missing TWO penalties in the process.

The early success clearly had fans believing Guardiola had already worked his magic, but Bravo insists the Catalan’s job is an ongoing process – one which will take time to perfect.

The Chile goalkeeper, one of the faces of the new regime after his August arrival from Barcelona, said: “It’s been fast and furious, City have changed how they were doing things before here in England.

“The finished article will come later. Now I am calm. I’ve just arrived and started to compete.

“We are getting to know our team-mates and the way the team plays, and you can’t learn that overnight.”

The failure to claim all three points was a blow to City, especially as Tottenham and Arsenal’s results mean there is only one point between the top three.

However, with the Premier League competition fierce, Bravo accepts such setbacks can happen and refuses to see it as a bad result.

He said: “I see the Premier League as a special attraction. The teams are more equal, physically superior to the Spanish league and with a fast very game too. I don’t think anybody sees it negatively.”
