Manuel Pellegrini’s men travel to struggling Norwich today knowing nothing less than a win will do to keep alive their title hopes.
Three league defeats in the last four outings have left City off the pace and looking over their shoulders at those behind them closing in on a top four finish.
But Brazil ace Fernandinho said: “The team is one of the best in the league. We have a great squad with great players but we have to prove that on the pitch.
“Unfortunately we haven’t done that up to now. I hope the next two months – the last 10 games – we can prove that on the pitch and not just talking.
“This season we have been a little more inconsistent.
“We have dropped some important points at home and this has made the difference to keep us off the top of the table.
“There are still two months to go and 10 games to play and with our best form maybe we can be back at the top of the table soon.”
