Man United 2 Crystal Palace 0: Darmian stunner closes gap to Arsenal

The Crystal Palace defender netted a humiliating own goal to gift Louis van Gaal’s men an early lead before Matteo Darmian doubled the advantage.

Van Gaal made three changes but named a strong and attacking lineup that included Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Rival Alan Pardew, meanwhile, made seven changes from the team that earned an impressive draw at Arsenal last weekend.

Back came keeper Julian Speroni, Martin Kelly, Adrian Mariappa, Wilfried Zaha and Bakary Sako among others, while Emmanuel Adebayor started up front.

With Palace taking into account this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final, the changes might have played into United’s hands.
