TOP STORY: Man City lead race for Kante

Manchester City have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign N’Golo Kante from Leicester after holding two rounds of talks with the midfielder’s representatives.

Kante, who signed for Leicester from Caen last summer, is the subject of major interest from a number of clubs after helping Leicester win the Premier League title, but it appears the Foxes are fighting a losing battle to retain the services of one of their most important players.

According to the Express, incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on the France international but a deal is far from done as Kante could opt for a switch to Arsenal instead of a move to the Etihad.

Claudio Ranieri continues to urge his new-born stars and Premier League Champions to stay at Leicester next season if for no other reason than to play Champions League football at the King Power Stadium, but Kante is increasingly looking like the name that may be hardest to keep.

PSG eye Sanchez, Hazard

Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard are two of the names Paris Saint-Germain may turn to in an effort to offset the impending loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, says the Sun. The French champions are ready to splash out to replace their leading scorer and focal point with Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann and Neymar also said to be on the capital club’s radar.

Ibrahimovic announced he would depart Champions League quarterfinalists PSG at the end of the season, but they have already drawn up a star-studded list of replacements for the outgoing striker and look to have agents, including Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola, ready to broker a deal or two.

Man United to bring in Mario?

According to the Mail, Manchester United have the inside track on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario. However, they will face competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City as well as Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for the 23-year-old.

Mario is said to have a £47 million release clause in his contract and Premier League sides are keen to tie up a deal for his services before this summer’s European Championships in the belief that the Portugal international’s value could increase.

The Mirror reports Sam Allardyce has made a permanent deal for on-loan midfielder Yann M’Vila and has made the £12m transfer of Andre Ayew from Swansea his priority for the summer after keeping Sunderland in the Premier League. Allardyce will also look to Bordeaux’s Clement Chantome and Lorient’s Lamine Gassama, who are both available on free transfers, with Jeremain Lens, Seb Larsson and Wes Brown likely to depart the Stadium of Light.

Francesco Totti will reject the chance to join Leicester or New York Cosmos on a lucrative free transfer so he can extend his stay with Roma for one more season. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the veteran striker will sign a one-year contract extension worth £17,000-a-week.

– Real Madrid will not sell Premier League target James Rodriguez this summer. The Sun claims Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all want Colombia international Rodriguez, but Real president Florentino Perez is currently unwilling to let the 24-year-old leave the Bernabeu.

– Reports in Australia claim Michael Carrick could join Perth Glory on a free transfer. The veteran Manchester United midfielder is wanted by the A League side, according to FourFourTwo Australia and could fill one of their marquee positions.
