Man City boss Pep Guardiola: Sergio Aguero will still be my penalty taker

“Missing penalties is part of the game but the important thing is that Sergio stayed focussed and didn’t let his head go down. I’m happy to let him carry on but I will leave it up to the players for the next one.”

David Silva and Nolito – with his first for the club – scored City’s other goals and delighted Guardiola with the power and pace of their attacking play.

The City boss was also encouraged by another good performance form the rejuvenated Raheem Sterling, who has bounced back from his Euros disappointment with England in fine style.

“He’s playing really good but he is 19 year or 20 years old so he has to learn a lot,” said Guardiola. “The best advice is to keep calm and focus on his training sessions and his body and his private life.
