Man City 3 West Ham 1: Raheem Sterling shines to sink the Hammers

Well this is a romance that is certainly blossoming.

Sterling bagged his first goals since March either side of a Fernandinho header as City cruised to the top of the Premier League table.

The nervy moments after West Ham’s Michail Antonio pulled it back to 2-1 were all forgotten when Sterling rounded keeper Adrian before a cheeky finish from the tightest of angles in injury-time.

Sterling seemed to be weighed down by his £49m fee last season when the pressure mounted at City.

But Guardiola reckons he is at his best playing every week and, while many doubted him, the City boss challenged him to show his talent.

So far he has delivered under his new boss – more of this and the love will continue to grow.

Here he looked like the player that dazzled often in the red of Liverpool two years ago with his best display of three impressive league starts so far this campaign.
