It’s understood West Ham could be without new signing Andre Ayew for around four months due to a thigh injury.
The former Swansea man, who only joined the Hammers in a £20million last week, suffered the problem just 35 minutes into his debut against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Slavan Bilic said on Tuesday that he hoped his record signing would be out for ‘days, rather than weeks’, but it would appear the news is far worse than thought for West Ham boss.
Jack Sullivan, the son of Hammers joint owner David Sullivan, took to Twitter to give an update on Ayew’s injury, which will require an operation to resolve the issue.
Sullivan Jnr tweeted “We are devastated that Ayew will be out for about 4 month. He needs a surgery”
It means West Ham might have to wait until Christmas before they see the Ghanaian international back in action, leaving Bilic short of attacking options.
