Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow has urged the rest of the squad to remain optimistic as they battle for Premier League survival.
Newcastle sit precariously in 19th with a six point gap to safety and only seven games left to play as they look to avoid falling to the Championship.
The Magpies were beaten dramatically 3-2 by fellow strugglers Norwich last time out and will travel to Southampton this weekend.
Darlow believes there were some positives to take from last weekend’s outing and insists there is reason to be optimistic during the run-in.
He said: “We have to take some positives.
“As long as itÂ’s still possible, we have to keep believing.
“It’s shown in the Premier League this season, teams are beating teams that you didn’t think they’d beat.
“We’ve got to be optimistic and stay optimistic, and hopefully have a second-half performance like that again away to Southampton next weekend.”
