Lazio have been told to increase their bid for Belgium left-back Jordan Lukaku amid reports that he would prefer to join Southampton.
Het Nieuwsblad claims there is interest from St Mary’s for the younger brother of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who was part of Belgium’s Euro 2016 squad.
But Lazio remain in pole position despite offering what is thought to be a low fee of £4million plus 20 per cent of the player’s resale profit.
Lukaku’s club, KV Oostende, appear to be trying to drum up a rival bid for the player, with reports of interest from both Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers leaking out.
Saints boss Claude Puel is unlikely to sanction a move at this stage, with Ryan Bertrand having just renewed his contract and Matt Targett offering ample cover in the left-back position.
