Liverpool have already signed Marko Grujic and Joel Matip and they will join in July with Lazar Markovic set to return from a loan spell with Fenerbahce. How far-reaching the turnaround in playing staff is remains to be seen with others perhaps seeing their futures away from the club.
Meanwhile, captain Jordan Henderson has called on the club’s hierarchy to resolve the future of Jon Flanagan, who is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree a new deal.
Flanagan spent 20 months out due to a knee injury, but Henderson wants a resolution with the full-back remaining at Anfield.
“I don’t think players, and people, like Flanno grow on trees to be honest,” he said. “You have people like him and Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher who have come through the academy and the fans feel as though they are one of them really.
“He is a huge player for us, a huge player for the club and the fans as well. It is in everyone’s interests for that to be sorted out soon.”
